Pick Your Own BLUEBERRIES

Our story

How our berries came to be...

Our seasons wouldn't be possible without support from our community. The Sawyer family would like to thank everyone for such an incredible 4th UPick blueberry season-despite COVID-19. The farm will now be focusing on preparing the berry bushes for the cooler weather, seeding the hay fields, getting the last of the hay in, and winterizing our honey bee hives. Again, thank you to all who came out with masks, rain or shine! We hope you all have a healthy, safe holiday season-see you next year!

Sawyer's Farm is proud to announce that there are blueberry bushes growing on nine of its 127 acres! From 2013-present ELEVEN THOUSAND  blueberry bushes were hand planted. The bushes are maintained by hand, by Ray Sawyer and his family.

UP & COMING NEWS:

Summer 2017 was Sawyer's Farm first season that a Pick Your Own (PYO) was offered, and we've come a long way since then! In the 2018 season, a beautiful blueberry shed was built. In the 2019 season we added electricity to the shed, and jarred our own raw honey for customers to purchase! In March 2020 Ray hand-pruned about 9,000 blueberry bushes. His daughter Christine also stained the berry shed for the 2020 season. We also had business cards made! Each season we're thrilled to see new & familiar faces from our community, leave our fields with blue fingertips and smiles.

PLANNING A VISIT?

We are currently following strict COVID-19 Agricultural Guidelines:

  1. Masks are required for all pickers for check in and check out-bring your own, we do not supply them.

  2. Please make sure your mask covers both your nose AND your mouth-customers will only be required to wear them during check in and check out.

  3. Hand sanitizer is required before check in and checkout. Please bring your own.

  4. One person from each family or group is allowed in the berry shed/barn for check in and check out. Children must remain within arms reach of parent or adult while in the field.

  5. Social Distancing guidelines will have to be maintained between one another, groups, or families while in the field.

  6. We can no longer allow customers to bring their own containers to fill-please leave yours at home or you will be asked to leave them in your vehicle upon arrival.

  7. Customers will be given a new, single use plastic harvest bag(s) to pick in the field with. This will be the only "container" allowed on the premises during the COVID-19 response until non-reusable harvest boxes become available for an additional $1.

  8. Bring your own chair if you would like to sit and pick in the field; we cannot put ours out this season.

  9. Payment will continue to be taken by card or cash. NO CHECKS. All cash payments will be handled with gloves by staff. If paying with a card, please be patient as we have to sanitize the square card reader after each use.

  10. Please keep all pets at home this season. The red farm dog will remain on leash for picking hours (if present at all). Please refrain from petting him to limit germs being spread from person to person.

All blueberry fields on Sawyer's Farm are flat and handicap accessible/wheelchair friendly. If you have questions or concerns on field conditions the day of your visit, please call or message us on Facebook prior to arriving.

Despite these new & challenging times, the Sawyer's Farm family looked forward to welcoming you all for our 4th annual UPICK Blueberry Season-thank you to all who visited this summer!
